Bernie Mac and Isaac Hayes

Submitted by carl on Tuesday, 12 August 2008No Comment

Bernie Mac’s funeral has been scheduled for August 16th. It’s a sad day indeed when we lose one our giants of the comedy world. According to many there will be a little less laughter out there in the world. Bernard Jeffrey McCollough died aged 50 of complications arising from pneumonia, in a Chicago hospital.

Mac is survived by Rhonda, his wife of over 30 years and the couple’s 30-year-old daughter Je’Niece, who were both present when the actor died. He was truly an amazing comedian, actor and father. One of the most compelling performers on stage in the last few years. It is a shame to have lost the man.

I remember watching his show and his unique way of dealing with married life and parenthood. It always bought a smile to my face when he often threatened in many episodes to “bust the children’s heads ’til the white meat shows.” So watch Ocean’s 11, Transformers and The Original Kings of Comedy and remember.

We also lost the Soul Legend Isaac Hays August 10th. Relatives found Hayes, 65, unconscious in his home next to a still-running treadmill, said Steve Shular, a spokesman for the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department. The inductee to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame career spanned 30 years with many achievements. From the amazing voice of “Chef” from South Park to the creator of the “Shaft” theme in 1971 he inspired many to follow in his talented footsteps. Here is a clip of of his soul and funk in action.
