I would have never imagined this. The Pirate Bay has been purchased by some freaking software company. It is the most disastrous news I have heard all week. It took me a few moments to recover but once I did, I figured that it isn’t the end of the world for P2P hobbyists like myself.
According to Hans Pandeya, CEO of Sweden’s Global Gaming Factory, “We would like to introduce models which entail that content providers and copyright owners get paid for content that is downloaded via the site.”
Pandeya continues to unform us that Pirate Bay is one of the top 100 most visited site on the net and its about time the site becomes legit. Well believe me as soon as this site goes legit it will go the way of Napster. (What ever happen to Napster anyway?) How do they think this will work anway? Most people go to Pirate Bay to get things for free.
Scum like the RIAA are gonna believe they’ve won. But they never have and never will. At best they’ve put a bandage on the broken pipe. The Pirate Bay may be gone but the spirit will live on forever and the Global Gaming Factory just wasted their money. You cut one head off the hydra and another appears.
